MCO Day 10, WFH Day 8

Believe it or not we have gone through 10 days of restricted movement and 8 days of working from home.

I am exhausted.

Working from home during this MCO period has been non-stop for me. The moment I start work at 9:00 in the morning, it's a non-stop day until at least 7:30 in the evening, and on some days up to 10:30 at night. There is literally no break in between because lunch breaks are cooking time and that has become work too.

I am exhausted.

The nice thing though is I just received a text message from a colleague appreciating what I have been doing at work. His encouragement and nice words certainly brightened up my evening. Thanks Krishnan. That meant a lot.

I am encouraged.

That actually brought me to tears because it has been quite an emotional week. My son returned from the US and we are worried about his health and our health. And I have been praying for a friend who had contracted the Covid-19 virus and I received news that he has passed away this morning. RIP my brother James Wong.

I am downcast.

But why so downcast O my soul, put your trust in the Lord, by day He commands His steadfast love and by night His song is with me*. I will trust and depend on Him fully, my God and my Abba Father. And it's a good thing that it's now Friday and the weekend.

I will re-charge.

The Last Post

I attended William Chan's wake service this evening. He has gone home to the Lord on Saturday after a difficult fight with a rare form of cancer. I don't know him that well but from the eulogies and testimonies shared this evening, he had indeed fought a good fight and stayed faithful to the calling of the Lord till the end.

He was the Captain of the Boy's Brigade 18th Petaling Jaya Company and at the end of the service, the Last Post was performed. In military tradition, the Last Post is the bugle call that signifies the end of the day's activities. It is also sounded at military funerals to indicate that the soldier has gone to his final rest. I never knew about it before and when it was played, I was so moved and touched by this very emotional and special moment of sending home a loved one to the Lord.

Rest in peace, brother William.

Gallup Theme: Input

I watched this Gallup Theme Thursday video today on theme Input, and absolutely love it. It's like he is describing most of what I do and what I feel about the subject. It's about reading, books, ebooks, e-readers, language, tech and apps and more. All those put together is so me!

Note: I must add here that sadly, Curt Liesveld has gone home to be with the Lord on 16 May 2015. He was my Gallup trainer last year and I have enjoyed tremendously the sessions I had with him. Here is his obituary. Rest in peace, Curt.

Obituary

My heart is very weighed down at the moment. One of our childhood friends, whom we have not met for awhile, had a heart attack and passed away. When I received the news late last night, his mother was still at the hospital about to him back home.

He was 42. He left behind a wife and three daughters

Heed what the Qoheleth say:
Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun ... The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecclesiastes 2:11, 12:13)

Rest in peace, Weng Hung.
