  1. maybe, Carson sermon appeal to and relevant to, audience with some theological background, probably Mdiv or equivalent...haha...

or , relevant to evangelical crowd who used to listen to biblical teaching...

I said maybe only,, still trying to figure out....

I think, evangelical speakers, expouse bible teaching and preach that to the audience...

but , charismatic speaker and audience , belong to somewhat different paradigm...

  2. charismatic homiletics, expouse the bible, but not only that, we walk one step further,,, by asking, is this what the crowd want to, and need to hear?

so unlike carson, we are more audience based/audience needs driven, better to say, more contextualised...haha!

or in our context, we call it, prophetic sermon...rather than didactic per se...

just my personal opinion...cant represent all charismatic/pentecostal speakers..

Hmmm ... I think Carson will be quite sad if that is the case. But in comparison with other speakers I have listened to (the more scholarly kind), Carson speaks well to the non-scholarly people too.

Evangelical or not, aren't we all to be bible-centered anyway? :)

I agree on the "need to hear" but not the "want to hear" because I think God don't quite care what the people want to hear but what the people need to hear.

    Hmmm ... shouldn't we be biblical-based rather than audience-based?
We need to first contextualise Scripture to its own time, author and audience and then to apply to ourselves based on what we learn from there, not the other way round.

    just my personal opinion
    and these are mine :)
