Here I am, one day off the latest deadline I gave myself on the John assignments and I am still at it. I am in the midst of hopefully wrapping it up when I found out something perplexing on the word encapture.
Have you heard it or use it before? I have and now I am told that it is not a word.
Try looking for it a dictionary and you will not find it.
I seriously feel like I have suddenly appeared in a parallel universe, into a world that do not have that word in existence. Weird.

I notice in my Feedjit that this is a frequented post. Therefore I'd like to now say that I did think that the word exist but I am mistaken. I must be influenced by the word 'enrapture'.
maybe you were thinking of encapsulate?
ReplyDeleteI know encapsulate but have encountered encapture before, which is why it is weird. If you google it, you'll find that it is in use.

ReplyDeleteI think this is a "word" that has been used by somehow someone somewhere and since then some people had picked it up and used it too. The meaning is somewhat a more intensified sense of capture.
Well, we'll see if it will be a new word coined somewhere down the line. It just might be and soon dictionaries will have "encapture" defined ;)
p/s sorry I went berserk with the "somethings" ... haha ... can't help it ... had been quite a mad week this week.
Had the same initial effect on me finding out like you that encaptured is not in dictionary. I believe we ALL heard it many times over in the introductory message announcing Nat King Cole recording artist "Timeless encaptured digitally remastered recording with daughter Natalie Cole. Unforgettable.

Hmmm...with the speed of everything is going forward in the digital era, the dictionary will have a hard time catching up.
Carol, about you hearing the "Unforgettable" introductory message announcement many times over - how did it happen? As in where would you have heard it over and over so many times?

I have never heard of it.
so strange - I was so sure it was a word also! I was using it in my paper but then spell check caught it. I was using it in the same sense as you, and I have also never heard of the "Unforgettable" announcement. We should just go make it a word ourselves!
